What does burnout mean:

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet the demands of your work or personal life.

Symptoms of burnout include:

· difficulty concentrating

· a decrease in motivation and productivity

· an increase in absenteeism from work.

· Negative or cynical attitudes toward your job or others

· Decreased satisfaction with your job or personal life

· Physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach problems, or sleep disturbances

Burnout can occur when:

· you are under a lot of stress for an extended period of time and are not able to take breaks or find ways to manage the stress effectively.

· Burnout can also occur when you have a high level of responsibility and too many demands on your time

· or when you are in a job or situation that is not fulfilling or rewarding.

· Burnout can also be related to personality traits and coping styles. For example, if you tend to be a perfectionist or are very hard on yourself, you may be more at risk for burnout.

· you have difficulty saying no or setting boundaries, you may be more likely to become overwhelmed and burnt out.

It is important to remember that it is normal to experience stress and burnout from time to time, but it is not healthy to feel burnt out on a regular basis.
